XAMA happens at Algodões Beach, Península de Maraú, Bahia, Brazil.
The closest airport is Ilhéus (IOS) distancing 108km, but it is also possible to arrive through Salvador International Airport (SSA) which has two options: 275km through the ferry ride or 390km all in one drive.

How to drive there?

From Ilhéus
Start at roadway BA-001 towards Itacaré and Camamu.
19 km after Itacare’s entrance, on the roundabout, exit to BR-030 (a dirt road).
Keep straight for 23 km until you reach the entrance to Algodões beach.
Follow the signs to Tikal Praia Bar.

From Salvador
Get the ferry-boat towards Bom Despacho, in the Itaparica island.
Drive through BA-001 all the way to Camamu.
Here you have two options:
1. drive around the Camamu bay always keeping on BA-001 and then entrying BR-030 (dirt road)
2. leave your car in a paid parking lot in Camamu and get the boat ride to Barra Grande. From Barra Grande, find a taxi down south to Algodões. The problem with this option is you won’t have a car to drive around the Peninsula, which comes pretty handy.

It starts on December 26th and ends on January 3rd.
